Scott Stapp just released his new solo album, Greater powerand with it comes a music video for the moving ballad “If These Walls Could Talk” featuring Dorothy.
The single features the Creed singer and Dorothy trading verses as they sing about fighting demons, with poignant lyrics like: “They've seen me pick up the bottle and put down the Bible/They've heard me cry more times than I can handle.” count.” The song slowly builds to a powerful climax showcasing each singer's impressive vocal range.
Strong consequences We recently met with Stapp and he told us: “[Dorothy] He is a truly powerful vocalist. Just in terms of what she's capable of doing vocally, she blows me away. She has such an iconic, big, soulful voice. And she is so dynamic: she can do so many things, from rock to amazing gospel-style tunes, to being trained in opera.”
Stapp went on to reveal that he was originally looking for a country singer to duet with on “If These Walls Could Talk,” but finally saw Dorothy sing when she opened a show he was playing with Daughtry. “I knew the second or third song [into her set]“That is the voice that should be in this song,” he recalled.
In a statement, Dorothy commented: “It was the greatest honor for me to collaborate with Scott Stapp on such a beautiful, raw and emotional song. I have been a fan of his all my life and I hope this song positively impacts the world.”
Stapp just kicked off a brief solo tour that will run through a March 22 show in Clear Lake, Iowa, with tickets available here.
