Sean “Diddy” Combs is under investigation by the feds. The disgraced Hip-Hop mogul is reportedly the subject of a federal criminal investigation, most definitely connected to the March 2024 home raids.
reports NBC News that Didi's legal team was notified last week that their client was being investigated by the Southern District of New York (SDNY). Although their sources said a federal grand jury has been set up, there is no word yet on what the potential charges might be and when they will land. The source also said Combs had not yet received an official target letter from the SDNY.
This latest development comes just months after Diddy's homes in Miami and Los Angeles were raided simultaneously as part of an investigation into alleged sex trafficking and illegal firearms, among other crimes. Recently, Diddy put the same foreclosed home in Los Angeles on the market. TMZ reports is seeking $70 million for the Holby Hills home after paying $40 million for it in 2014.
Combs' fall from grace can be traced back to November 2023 when his ex-girlfriend and former Bad Boy artist Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit accusing him of years of physical and sexual abuse. The suit was settled a day later, but the barrage has broken, with more alleged victims filing their own lawsuits in the weeks and months since. Diddy would vehemently deny any wrongdoing, but in May 2024, CNN obtained a video showing him brutally beating Cassie in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel. The attack was exactly as Cassie had described in her lawsuit.
Diddy then took to Instagram to deliver a widely criticized apology video. In the month since Cassie's original lawsuit, entities have cut ties with Diddy, including Revolt (where he once served as president of the company he founded), Hulu (which pulled the plug on a planned reality show), and Howard University (the which canceled his honorarium ).
