Fan/fugitive named Samantha joined the rapper on stage at Lovestream festival this weekend despite having an outstanding warrant related to a 2019 hit-and-run incident at a football game
A fan is sweet moment at a Macklemore concert in Slovakia quickly turned sour last week, as a woman who joined the rapper on stage was arrested soon after on an outstanding warrant.
The incident happened last weekend at the Lovestream festival in Bratislava, where Macklemore was among the performers. During the concert, Macklemore invited a 24-year-old woman named Samantha on stage to sing “Downtown” with him.
However, according to Slovak Republic police, another festival-goer also recognized Samantha from a Slovakian website dedicated to finding fugitives from the law.
“The woman captured this experience and boasted about it on a social network, which did not escape the attention of an observant citizen,” the police of the Slovak Republic wrote in translated Facebook post. “He recognized the woman and discovered he had just seen her on the above website and immediately informed the police.”
After the onstage duet, the police – at this point alerted to Samantha's outstanding warrant – swooped in to arrest her backstage. He was then “escorted to the facilities of the institution for the execution of the prison sentence”.
Neither the charges Samantha was facing nor the length of her prison sentence were disclosed by police. However, local media reported that Samantha's legal issues stemmed from an unpaid €800 disorderly conduct fine she was handed after she stripped to her bra and ran onto the pitch during a soccer match in Slovakia in 2019.
Because of the unpaid fine, the court ordered Samantha to serve a prison sentence, which she avoided for five years until she decided to take the stage with Macklemore.
