A small earthquake near Coachella on Saturday (April 13) shook the Southern California desert, where the famous music festival takes place this weekend. No damage or injuries were reported.
The earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 3.8, occurred at 9:08 am. local time about 8 miles (13 kilometers) northeast of Borrego Springs in Riverside County, according to the US Geological Survey.
The epicenter was about 20 miles (32 kilometers) southeast of Coachella. It struck at a depth of about 7 miles (11 kilometers), the USGS said.
A Riverside County Sheriff's Department dispatcher said there have been no calls reporting problems since the earthquake.
Headliner Lana Del Rey's headlining set on Coachella's opening night — which followed Peso Pluma's performance — concluded with a duet with special guest Billie Eilish on Friday night (April 13). The pair sang Eilish's 'Ocean Eyes' and Lana's 'Video Games'.

This weekend is the first of two weekends of Coachella 2024. Tyler, The Creator and No Doubt are among the artists scheduled for Saturday night, while Sunday's bill features Doja Cat, J Balvin and more.
