Snoop Dogg did it all while serving as NBC's special correspondent during the just-concluded Paris Summer Olympics. And just as the closing ceremonies were about to begin and pass the torch to the next host city, Los Angeles, the Dogfather checked one more bucket list item off his list: messing with the next generation of British royalty.
Snoop appeared in the traditional congratulatory message to Team GB from the British monarchs on Sunday (August 11), releasing the clip starring Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton with a fitting, 'greetings lovely people'. The rapper dressed to impress at NBC's Paris studios in a custom USA-themed outfit, featuring a half white/half blue blazer with red and blue piping and a red, white and blue scarf.
“From all of us watching at home, congratulations to Team GB,” said Middleton, Princess of Wales, who has been seen infrequently over the past year as she receives cancer treatment. “Well done for all you've achieved, you've been an inspiration to us all,” added Prince William, who has gained a lot of attention across the pond for his new beard.
The video also included shout-outs from British soccer legend David Beckham — “hey team GB, we're so proud of you, congratulations” — as well as several former British Olympians and sports presenters. Great Britain won a total of 65 medals at the Paris Games, including 14 gold, 22 silver and 29 bronze.
Snoop ended the video by saying: “Thank you Great Britain. On behalf of Big Snoop Dogg, Prince and his lovely wife.” The MC returned to the mix later in the day during the elaborate closing ceremonies, where he joined Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and HER in a series of performances that marked the start of the LA28 era.
