Snoop Dogg is interested in expanding his circle of collaborators. “I'd love to do a song with Dolly Parton, can you hook it up?” Snoop told reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Feb. 14, adding that “she brings it.”
The rapper and media personality was making a surprise appearance on a panel discussing NBC's upcoming broadcast of the upcoming 2024 Olympics. Snoop had previously offered commentary on the 2021 games alongside Kevin Hart, and NBC is bringing him on Paris to provide live commentary on this year's games as well.
Parton's mention didn't come out of the blue, as the country (and now rock!) performer previously released her cover of Queen's “We Are the Champions/We Will Rock You” during the summer of 2023 as celebration of the upcoming Paris games. However, NBC Olympics executive producer Molly Solomon added that she wasn't ready to offer any details about further collaboration with Parton.
By the way, expect to see a fair amount of Snoop during the Olympics as he'll be participating in field packages and talking to athletes on the field. When asked about his approach to commentating, specifically whether he does extensive research on competing athletes or comes in cold, Snoop responded that “I never come in cold, I always come in hot… Don't worry about the research, I know”. everything about everyone.
When Solomon asked Snoop what his title should be, his response was, “OG.” Continued Snoop: “We plan to change it.”
Snoop Dogg remains one of the busiest men in entertainment, as he and Dr. Dre are currently collaborating on a Gin and Juice canned drink, just one of their many business projects. The 2024 Olympic Games begin on Friday, July 26 with NBC broadcasting in the United States.
