A sequel to the beloved 1987 space opera parody. space balls is in the works with Mel Brooks as producer, reports Variety.
Starring Josh Gad, the Amazon MGM Studios film will be directed by Josh Greenbaum from a script written by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez and Gad. Plot details are currently being kept under wraps.
The original film was co-written, produced and directed by Brooks, who also starred. A parody of popular science fiction franchises such as Star Wars, Star Trekand aliensstarred Bill Pullman as Luke Skywalker/Hans Solo parody Lone Starr, John Candy as Chewbacca parody Barf, and Rick Moranis as Darth Vader parody Lord Dark Helmet.
