Three, six, nine, it's time for Steve Aoki to fire up the machine once again with a familiar collaborator in tow.
The hit producer has announced that he will be teaming up with Lil Jon for a reboot of the latter's iconic song, “Get Low.” Released in 2003 by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, the song left an indelible mark on the music industry, particularly in the popularization of crunk, a subgenre of hip-hop that gained widespread attention over the years.
Aoki's latest effort at channeling nostalgia comes in the wake of his remix of another turn-of-the-century hit, Yellowcard's “Ocean Avenue,” which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. Combined with Lil Jon's always charismatic presence, Aoki's track record of reviving classics suggests this reboot will likely succeed in breathing new life into a song that defined an era of popular music. Not to mention, the two have an established history of starting parties dating back to 2011, when they released “Turbulence.”
Fans can expect the upcoming “Get Low” remake, titled “Get Lower,” to release on February 9, 2024.
