Stevie Nicks will no longer perform at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Tuesday night “due to illness,” according to a statement on the venue's social media.
“Due to illness, the Stevie Nicks concerts on Tuesday, June 18 in Grand Rapids have been postponed until September 24,” the statement read. “Customers should hold onto their tickets, previously purchased tickets will be honored.”
The statement ended with optimism that Nicks and her band will be well enough to play at Soldier Field in Chicago later this week. “Stevie can't wait to see the fans Friday night in Chicago.”
The announcement comes days after Nicks postponed her concert scheduled for Saturday at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania, “due to an illness in the band.” That news was posted on the stadium's social media at 5:30 p.m., hours before show time.
The Hershey, Grand Rapids and Chicago concerts are the final three US dates on Nicks' current tour. He has six shows scheduled in Europe for July, including Dublin, London and Amsterdam, before returning Stateside for the Grand Rapids gig in September. No new date has been announced for Hersheypark as of press time.
On June 9, Advertising signAshley Iasimone covered Nicks' concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. During the set, Nicks poked fun at herself for telling weird (and fascinating) stories about her decades as a rock star, but she wouldn't have it any other way. “I'm so old,” Nicks said with a smile on stage. “… What will everyone say to me? 'To stop! You can't do this anymore!' I'll say, “Okay. Fine. I'll just go home and be alone in a rocking chair with my dog Lily.'
