Sueños festival-goers will see four of the nine artists scheduled to perform Sunday (May 26) in Chicago's Grant Park. After storms and severe weather warnings, the organizers announced early morning that “the doors for Day 2 of the Sueños festival will be delayed until further notice,” a decision made in coordination with the City of Chicago Public Safety and the National Weather Service.
Almost five hours later, the festival gave one second update on social media, revealing a new start time and an updated lineup that included the last four acts: Jowell y Randy, Mora, Maluma and Peso Pluma. Other artists previously confirmed for previous slots – such as Bad Gyal, Gabito Ballesteros and Manuel Turizo – are no longer set to appear.
“Thank you for your patience! We are working hard to prepare the festival grounds for all of you,” they announced in a statement around 1:30 p.m. local time. “Due to the storm, the arrangements of the artists were delayed and we need more time to make sure they can play the best show without technical problems. Due to this and repairs to the grounds, doors will open around 4pm. For safety reasons, please do not arrive at the park before 3:00 PM. Once we're open, please be patient as we process everyone on the site.”
The comment section of the post quickly filled up with fans' opinions. Some complained about the changes, saying it was a “nightmare”, while others demanded a refund to get “half a show”. Another person seemed more optimistic, writing: “Look on the bright side, first day was historic.”
The opening day of the festival included performances from Xavi, Ivan Cornejo, Young Miko, Bizarap and Rao Alejandro. This year, Sueños, now in its third year, was sold out for the first time with 65,000 expected each day.
