SZA is a great example of why not all song lyrics should be taken literally.
While appearing at Amelia Dimoldenberg's Chicken shop datethe R&B-pop superstar admitted that her smash hit “Kill Bill” — which became her first solo No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 last year — was a little over the top, especially that part about killing her ex. friend.
“Oh my god, after I said that, I was like, 'That was so crazy and hard,'” SZA admitted on Friday's (July 5) episode, laughing. “I happened to be slightly enraged.”
The Grammy winner also returned to the line “I'd rather be in jail than alone.” “Because I sang it, it must be true?” he sneered sarcastically, clarifying that he certainly wouldn't prefer jail time to solitary confinement.
SZA's Billboard 200 standout track warning sign it was just one of many topics he broached with Dimoldenberg. The pair also opened up about falling in love, which the 'Snooze' artist revealed comes easily to her.
“It's tragic,” he said. “I don't even know if I'm meant to fall in love. Because who actually makes and maintains it? I think we're just supposed to be in fleeting states of love.”
“I can catch 'em, but I can't keep 'em,” she added of her dating life – but that's where things started to take a slightly weird turn. “They get in there and then they realize I'm weird. [My] butt makes it show [I’m] normal. On the outside I want to shake one – and do all the normal things, but I also want to swim in the swamp, and I want to, for example, collect methane gas with my husband. That's my type of sh–.”
As for whether she would ever run for president, SZA said “absolutely not.” “I don't want anything to do with politics and I just want to be left alone,” she said.
