“Why y’all hate happiness so much? Y’all don’t like when people do wholesome things,” the musician said after teaming up with the tech mogul to cover the classic Lil Jon record, adding: “Shut the hell up”
T-Pain is standing on the frontlines to protect real lovers from bitter loners after teaming up with Mark Zuckerberg on a special acoustic cover of “Get Low.” The pair cut the Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz record as a gift to the META founder’s wife in honor of their anniversary. Whether the pushback came from stripping the upbeat record down to its bare bones or in an “Eat the Rich” response to the musician teaming up with a billionaire tech mogul, T-Pain doesn’t want to hear it.
“It is impossible for some people to have fun. I’ve learned how to not worry about what y’all are talking about,” T-Pain said on Instagram a few hours after the song was released on Thursday. “Why y’all hate happiness so much? Y’all don’t like when people do wholesome things, y’all don’t like when people do stuff for their wives.” To be fair, the cover was pretty wholesome. Zuckerberg shared the backstory about the gesture, writing: “‘Get Low’ was playing when I first met Priscilla at a college party, so every year we listen to it on our dating anniversary.”
But it wasn’t just about people not embracing some grand gesture of love. There was something about people picking something so generally inconsequential to have an issue with that sent T-Pain over the edge. “Motherfuckers actually doing something good in their god damn life then all of a sudden, I need to distance myself,” he said. “Shut the hell up! Shut up! What the fuck you doing on your phone right now, looking at T-Pain? How the fuck did you just see all three of these videos? That’s three minutes of your motherfucking time you could have been actually doing this shit you said you ain’t have time [for].”
In short, T-Pain thinks everyone needs to log off and touch grass. “Y’all way too serious,” he added. “Go climb a tree.”
