For Taylor Swift's final Eras tour date in Amsterdam, Netherlands at the Johan Cruijff Arena on Saturday, she dusted off some of the first gems for the surprise acoustic session at the show. It included “Mary's Song (Oh My My My)” from her 2006 self-titled debut album, and she also delivered “Sweeter Than Fiction,” her song from the 2013 film's soundtrack. One chance. She had not previously played any songs during her Eras tour until Saturday.
“It's a tradition I started on the Eras tour because I was really trying to challenge myself to play as many songs as possible from all the albums I've done,” she said, explaining the acoustic surprise song section during her sets and how she performs songs on the guitar and then on the piano. “And it's different every night,” he added.
“I can't believe this, but I haven't played this song on the Eras tour yet, so it's fun,” he said to cheers before launching into “Sweeter Than Fiction,” which he paired with Red“Holy Ground” while on acoustic guitar.
To introduce the second surprise song, “Mary's Song (Oh My My My),” he said, “If you know the words to this song I'm going to do, because it's from my first album and I've never played it on tour Eras, so bonus points for you if you know the words to that.” He delivered the song as part of a three-part medley with “So High School” by Section The tortured poets: The Anthology and The red one “Everything has changed.”
Swift performed three Eras tour concerts in Amsterdam, reviving the former Eras tour's “The Archer” on Thursday and debuting “Imgonnagetyouback” live on Friday.
The Eras tour continues in Zurich, Switzerland for a pair of shows this week before heading to Milan, Italy for the weekend. The European and UK leg of the tour wraps up in August before the Eras tour officially wraps up with a string of Canadian dates running from November to early December.
