It looks like Black Midi has broken up, or at least gone on an “indefinite” hiatus.
The news broke over the weekend, when Geordie Greep first hinted at a breakup during an Instagram Live session. As captured by RedditGreep wrote in the comments: “Black Midi was an interesting band that ended indefinitely.” He added that the alleged hiatus would be “for the foreseeable future.”

Cameron Picton later confirmed the news (also via Reddit) in a tweet she later deleted. “We had agreed not to say anything about the ‘breakup’ so last night I was just as shocked as everyone else but maybe in a different way,” she wrote. “I guess sometimes all you can say is lol.”
Picton continued: “Anyway! I’m going to start sessions for my own record soon. I hope it’s good, hopefully it’s great!”
Several members of Black Midi have embarked on solo projects this year. Greep formed a band called Geordie Greep and The Swing Boys, while Picton started a project called Camera Picture and released a CD album titled 44m50sMeanwhile, Matt Kwasniewski posted a independent individual in March.
