The Dandy Warhols have released a new single called “Danzig With Myself”, which features a special appearance by Pixies leader Black Francis. The song appears on the alternative rock band's upcoming album, ROCK MANUFACTURERAvailable March 15.
Musically, the song has a Pixies vibe, with Francis contributing a fuzzy guitar track. Of the song's title, Dandy Warhol singer Courtney Taylor-Taylor explained: “It started with a riff that sounded like Misfits or Danzig and then it slowed down.”
He continued, “Over time, it became a working title that was too good to replace.”
Taylor-Taylor delivers the verses in a deep voice, though not as deep as Glenn Danzig, and the dark lyrics serve as another tribute of sorts to the horror-punk icon. The melody begins with the lines, “Some days it's so obvious/ Other days it's insidious/ But half the people alive today are/ They're fucking idiots.”
To promote the new album, Dandy Warhols will embark on a tour of the United States. The short jaunt begins March 4 in Washington, DC and continues through a March 19 concert in Los Angeles. The tickets are available here.
