The Rolling Stones headlined the opening day of the second weekend of the 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Thursday night, and it was a show unlike anything seen before at the historic event.
For one thing, the Stones had been booked twice before in the last five years, but their appearances fell through due to Mick Jagger's heart surgery in 2019 and COVID in 2021. The legendary rockers who finally hit the NOLA Jazz stage this year they were honored. and the festival took the unprecedented action of turning off all other stages. Normally there are up to eight active stages during the “headliner” slot, but who would want to play against the Rolling Stones?
