Foo Fighters and Tom Morello shared the bill at Open'er Festival in Gdynia, Poland, this weekend. With Morello watching from the side of the stage, Dave Grohl dedicated the band's performance of “Times Like These” in honor of the former Rage Against the Machine guitarist. At one point, the Foo Fighters frontman also briefly made his way to the side of the stage so Morello could get an up-close-and-personal look at his tribute, before the two eventually embraced.
“Last night was a wild night at the @Open'er Festival in Poland rocking hard with Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters”, Morello wrote from the moment captured by photographer Aysia Marotta.
Morello and his mother, Mary, appeared in an episode of From the cradle to the stagethe 2021 documentary series created by Grohl based on the book written by his late mother Virginia, From the cradle to the stage: stories of the mothers who rocked and raised rock stars.
Foo Fighters are currently wrapping up the European leg of their 2024 summer tour. Later this month, they will return to the U.S. for a series of stadium shows (Get tickets here).
As for Morello, he recently unveiled “Soldier in the Army of Love,” the lead single from his upcoming solo rock album. He was also named the 2024 Woody Guthrie Award winner.
I went to see the @foofighters Tonight, alone in Poland (my first solo show in a long time) and I got to witness this? By the way, my ghost is tweeting this. image.twitter.com/NuFT3SYWAP
