Ty Segall is back to announce Rudiments of loveher second album release of 2024, and shared the record's first single, “The Dance (Edit).”
Rudiments of love It comes out on August 30th through Drag City and continues Three bellsSegall's album from January of this year. According to a press release, Rudiments of love It focuses on drums and percussion, and is a completely instrumental album. Segall states that, although many fans know him as a singing guitarist, drums were his first love and Rudiments of love presents the musician following a romantic arc through four song cycles with percussion as the main instrument.

Ty Segall has also announced an acoustic tour in 2025, which will begin in February and will feature the musician playing solo (without any percussion) across North America. The tour kicks off in San Diego on February 20 and hits cities including San Francisco, Vancouver, Austin, Nashville, Washington DC, Brooklyn, Cleveland, Chicago and more. The tour wraps up with a date in Boise, Idaho on April 30; see the full list of dates below.

“The Dance (Edit)” is the first proposal of Rudiments of loveand Segall leaves it all on the drums for the entire three-minute track. It is the third movement of Rudiments of love'The second suite, and the theme revolves around a couple's first dance. Meanwhile, in addition to drums, Segall employs vibraphones, a tambourine, electronic drum pads and wood blocks in the mix. Listen to “The Dance (Edit)” below.
Rudiments of love will be Ty Segall’s 15th album. The musician also has a number of tour dates scheduled for this summer and fall ahead of his 2025 tour, including an appearance at the Hopscotch Festival in North Carolina and a series of European acoustic tour dates.
