Fonovisa-Disa, the regional Mexican label of Universal Music Group, has appointed Ana Martinez at US GM. Based in Los Angeles, Martinez, a 19-year veteran of the music industry, will report directly to Antonio SilvaMD of Fonovisa-Disa for the United States and Mexico.
“The legacy that Fonovisa has historically created, primarily in all of Mexican music, has been the inspiration and reference for entire generations and will continue to be built long into the future,” Martinez said in a statement. “With the current moment in Latin music, it's exciting for me to be part of a company and group of this kind, to herald a new era for this historic label, where our music continues to rise, leaving its mark on history. and culture, not only in all of Latin music, but worldwide.”
Martinez previously led strategy and relationships as part of Amazon Music's global Latin team, where she executed global campaigns for Bad Bunny, Karol G and Shakira, as well as Amazon's live streams across multiple platforms, including Maluma's concert from in Medellín in 2022. “Medallo En El Mapa.” Prior to Amazon, she spent seven years at Universal Music México, joining the company as label manager of the Anglo repertoire before taking on the role of marketing director.
“I am very excited to integrate Ana Martínez into the team, her experience in different sectors of the industry complements our business vision and strategy for the Fonovisa-Disa roster,” Silva added. “I fully believe that her ability to promote success in projects will further strengthen our vision of creating global hits for Mexican music in the future.”
Martinez's appointment comes a few months later Alfredo Delgadillo appointed president/CEO of Universal Music México. Of Martinez's return to Universal Music Group, Delgadillo said, “Ana is always connected and thinking ahead of the market and that, along with her extensive experience in the Latin music industry from independent labels, concert booking and production, artist management , her time in niche magazines and most recently in her position at Amazon Music, will further nurture our ecosystem and help Fonovisa-Disa maintain its position as a leader of Mexican music in the world.”
