Brazilian funk/punk band Asfixia Social teams up with legendary hardcore/punk band DOA on new single 'Traffic Lights', taken from their upcoming album.
After releasing the albums Da Rua Pra Rua (from street to street) and Soma System (Sounsystem Sum), Asfixia Social became one of the most active bands in Brazil. By 2020, they had performed hundreds of shows across the country and also around the world, mainly in Europe.
The Brazilian press praised the album. Soma System as one of the best albums of 2020. It included a book illustrated by more than 1,000 schoolchildren over three years in the band's Poetry, Hip-Hop and literature workshops.
Asfixia Social is a mix of Rap, Ska, Punk, Brazilian Music, Funk, Dub and Hardcore, with lyrics that portray the life and activism of the group in the largest city in South America, São Paulo.
It's a heady mix of street culture, poetry and a pulsating sound that was developed by the band traveling with their own sound system on an old graffiti-covered bus. In addition to live concerts and festivals, the band is known to perform in schools, public squares, cultural centers and favelas in all regions of Brazil. This has led to several cultural awards for the band.
In 2024, the band is planning another European tour in the summer after first releasing a new album in April.
