Alexander Sánchez has strong – and emotional – opinions about his famous dad, Alejandro Sanz.
Alex (as his dad calls him) was a surprise guest at his father's Icon Q&A during Latin Music Week on October 16, when he took the stage after it was known he was watching from the wings. Once there, fans learned quite a bit about Sanz's son.
“He's a musician. Very good musician. I mean it,” Sanz said proudly.
Alex began studying trombone and jazz before picking up guitar and piano and writing his own music. He studied at a performing arts high school in Miami, initially playing jazz before switching to “my own vibe. I started writing songs that are harder on my guitar and here I am,” he said.
Alex records under the stage name Quint and has just released his new single, “Something more like you.”
When asked about five things we didn't know about Alex, Sanz replied, “I don't know who your girlfriend or boyfriend is. I don't know if you love me a little. I don't know your favorite song. I don't know when you will come to live with me. And I don't know what your plans are tonight.”
When asked about five things we didn't know about his dad, however, Alex was more specific: “My dad loves the ocean — it's, like, his favorite thing in the world. He is one of the kindest people on the planet I have met. He loves seafood — it's his favorite type of food. After his concerts, he takes a moment of solitude to get the adrenaline going – he goes and chills for a minute.”
But, the main thing we didn't know about him? “He's the best dad in the world.”
