Young Thug and the ongoing RICO trial in Georgia has seen many twists and turns, with the latest case standing out as one of the most explosive. Earlier this week, attorney Brian Steel, who is representing Young Thug in the YSL RICO trial, was held in contempt of court and ordered to spend 10 weekends behind bars.
Local outlet 11 Live reports that Judge Ural Glanville told Brian Steel that Steel's failure to release the name of his source regarding a private meeting between Glanville, the State, and key witness Kenneth Copeland is why he charged Steel with the action .
The report adds that Judge Glanville gave Steel several warnings about contempt that Steel sidestepped. Instead, the lawyer said the court was in violation because his client had no representation at the one-on-one meeting.
“I'll give you five minutes. If you don't tell me who it is, I will despise you,” Glanville said. Steel replied, “I don't need five minutes.”
After a break, the judge once again asked for details, and Steel refused.
“Sir. Steel, I will ask you again. I want you to tell me how you got this information. It is too sacred to parrot a conversation in my chamber,” Glanville said.
Steel then made a motion for wrongdoing which the judge denied and he was taken into custody soon after. From there the judge read the terms of Steel's prison term.
“Those 20 days made up of every weekend for the next 10 weekends,” Glanville added. “And you will address 901 Rice Street NW, Atlanta, Georgia, 30318. At 7 p.m. on Friday, you will be released at 7 p.m. on Sundays. And it will begin this Friday, June 14 at 7 p.m. and will not end until Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 7 p.m.
