Zendaya unexpectedly had to pause her global Dune: Part Two promotional tour on Monday (February 26). The actress posted a video in which she was visibly struggling with her voice while explaining why she couldn't appear on Good morning America as planned. “Hello GMA. I'm sorry I can't be there. I've come down with something and I've completely lost my voice,” she said in a hoarse, thin voice that was barely audible.
“But I hope you have a beautiful morning and I hope you enjoy Dune: Part Two,” she added. The morning show appreciated the gesture, reposting the clip along with the message, “How sweet of @zendaya to send us this video? We'll miss you tomorrow and hope you feel better soon!” As of press time, Zendaya had not revealed any additional information about what was ailing her or if she would be returning GMA to promote the film later.
Earlier on Sunday, Zendaya was on hand for the Premiere in New York from Dune the sequel co-stars Timothée Chalamet, Josh Brolin, Florence Pugh and Austin Butler. Z has been on a world tour to promote the second installment of the Denis Villeneuve-directed sci-fi epic opening in US cinemas on Friday (March 1), in which she plays Chani, a young Fremen warrior in love with Paul by Chalamet. Atreides. The film based on Frank Herbert's beloved 1965 novel also stars Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem and Léa Seydoux.
