Shakira will perform at the Copa América final on Sunday (July 14), CONMEBOL announced on Tuesday (July 9). It will be the first time the Colombian hitmaker will appear in football's oldest national tournament. The artist will sing at halftime of the game, which is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, where an estimated 54,000 people are expected to attend.
“Shakira is an extraordinary South American star who has dazzled the entire world,” Alejandro Domínguez, president of CONMEBOL, said in a statement. “Her songs are sung and danced to in every corner of the globe, turning her art into a global phenomenon that transcends borders and is enjoyed by millions of people. We are confident that her performance at the 2024 Copa America USA will reinforce the message of healthy passion and unity through sport.”
Her hit “Puntería” featuring Cardi B is the official song of TelevisaUnivision's 2024 Copa América CONMEBOL coverage.
The event, held in the United States with the participation of 16 CONMEBOL and CONCACAF teams, began on June 20 and ends on July 14.
Known for her performances at major global events such as the Super Bowl and three World Cups, the “Hips Don't Lie” singer is set to entertain with a mix of her classic anthems and new hits.
The Barranquilla-born superstar recently released her 12th studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran on March. The album reached No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on Top Albums, among other chart achievements. Shortly after the release of her latest album, Shakira delivered a pop-up show to over 40,000 people in Times Square on the TSX stage.
