The band, whose only consistent member was co-founder and singer Greg Graffin, released their seventeenth studio album, Age of absurdityin 2019, followed by the release of their autobiography in August 2020; Do What You Will: The Story of Bad Religion. That same year the band whose brooding punk rock rants often incorporate social and political themes were also scheduled to celebrate the band's 40th anniversary with a tour that was postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
