LL Cool J and Eminem join forces for the first time on a brand new track set to land on the upcoming LL The Force album, which arrives on September 6.
The single finds the pair of deadly MCs passing the baton back and forth while spitting rapid-fire bars, one hotter than the other. “Murdergram Deux” landed on Friday (August 30) without much notice from LL or Em that the track was on the way.
“Bless my students, pro, I'm a sniper/ Like eight miles away, me and Marshall making kills/ With dirty burners, break 'em and melt 'em in the oven,” LL Cool J beams over the Q-Tip skit production.
Eminem closes “Murdergram Deux” seemingly out of breath and carries the uptempo track across the finish line with a tip of the hat to Dr. Dre and “Crack a Bottle” featuring 50 Cent.
“Go ahead and crack a bottle 'cause that's E and J/ Meaning me and James (Yeah), we got that avocado/ And we sociopaths, and we got your humor in our arms/ And we're going back to The Cali to blow on our sax,” he whispers.
It's been a tumultuous journey for “Murdergram” to receive an official release, as an unfinished version of the track was leaked earlier this year, much to the dismay of the Queens-bred icon.
“It's not AI, but it's not official. It's not official, it's not the right version,” he previously told Raymond T. “People just walk around the kitchen, touching the rolls before they're done — you know, the way your grandma slaps your hand when you're trying to check pots early. It's not AI, it's a real joint.”
Em joined LL Cool J as a guest on his Rock The Bells radio show in 2018, during which the Detroit artist recalled meeting the rapper for the first time on the set of his “Just Don't Give a F–k” video.
“I'm like, 'Yeah, he's here by himself.' I got the f—k out,” Em said. “You quoted me a verse. You said, “Hey, how can I be white/ I don't even exist.” You mentioned that verse to me, it was like, “I think I'm not myself.”
Eminem also made an appearance at the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for LL Cool J, where the duo performed his hit “Rock the Bells.”
LL Cool J's The Force The album is his first since 2013 Authenticand Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Saweetie, Nas and more are expected to perform.
