The beef that keeps on giving, just keeps on giving. Two weeks after Kendrick Lamar decisively put the lid on Drake's verbal outing with his iconic “Not Like Us” music video, the two men found themselves back in the spotlight on Tuesday night (July 16) when their bar fight turned into a charge for Take a risk!
The $800 mark in the “Diss-Track-Tions” category was a layup for contestant Isaac when host Ken Jennings asked, “In May 2024, these 2 competitors were going back and forth with tracks like 'Family Matters' and “Meet the Grahams.”
According Rolling rock, the accusation also touched on the long-standing beef between Jay-Z and Nas with a $2,000 response, “The title of this hate letter from Nas to Jay-Z who shares his name with an anesthetic drug now means 'offend public. Hip-hip heads immediately chimed in with “What is Ether,” Nas' 2001 answer to Jay-Z's “Takeover.” Other cues in the run included flashbacks to famous beefs between 50 Cent and Cam'Ron, Game and Eminem, and, of course, Notorious BIG and Tupac Shakur.
The timing was fortuitous, since the day before Lamar's “Not Like Us” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart after the official video premiered. The bump-up marked the second time the song topped that chart after debuting at the summit nine weeks earlier. The song also rose from No. 3 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to its video premiering over the July 4 weekend, also nine weeks after debuting at the top of that chart.
