The duo’s 18-track deluxe edition features remixes from Dntl, Helado Negro, Hercules and Love Affair, and more
Electro-pop duo Slyvan Esso announced the release of their 10th anniversary self-titled debut album Tuesday. The anniversary album, Sylvan Esso, features eight new tracks including remixes to hits such as “Hey Mami,” “Coffee,” and “H.S.K.T,” and marks the indie band’s latest album release since No Rules Sandy.
Their 10th anniversay brings listeners back to the beachside pop album that weaved themes of suffering, love, darkness, and deliverance. Made up of the married duo Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn, their 18-track anniversary album fuses quirky folk with electronic dance music and features remixes from Dntl, Helado Negro, Hercules and Love Affair, J Rocc, Rick Wade, and Charles Spearin, as well as a cover of Porches’ “The Cosmos.”
On the original “Hey Mami,” Meath’s vocals echoed over ambient street noise and a clap track, while Sylvan Esso’s “Coffee” lures listeners to the dance floor, with, “Get up, get down…sentiment’s the same, but the pair of feet change.”
The married duo released their fourth studio album, No Rules Sandy, in August 2022, a sequel to Free Love. No Rules Sandy, which the band will tour beginning in May, invites pleasure coupled with pain in track “Sunburn,” whereas the final track “Coming Back to You,” strips down to a folky rhythm and acoustic guitar.
